No official textbook is required.

Official course description:  Capstone design course. Students work in teams on projects evaluating societal or industrial based materials problems and then designing and evaluating a strategy to minimize or eliminate the problem.

Overview
This is the senior capstone design course for Materials Science and Engineering.  Design is a key theme in materials science and engineering, delivering solutions from creativity and invention, supported by the understanding achieved by analysis.

Students will work as a team, surveying the key questions in the project, developing a team organization and research approach to the project, and executing several different facets.  Students have the primary responsibility to investigate the problem, identify opportunities, and develop designs to realize those opportunities.  The class team should plan its activities and timelines, coordinate its progress, and periodically present reports in class.

Final report
Final presentation

Grades
Center of grade distribution will be determined by accomplishment and effort of entire team.
Width and shape of distribution will be determined by individual contributions to progress, to team-building, and to class discussion.
